Link to the Video: [link] Ok, sooo… Because i’m still hyped about the 3rd Evangelion movie, and because i’m sure i’m not the only one that noticed the similarities, i made this Trailer Mash Up Evangelion x Pacific Rim.
Evangelion (c) Studio Khara Pacific Rim (c) Warner Bros
We have giant robot that can be drive with the power of the mind that fight giant monsters that are trying to cause the apocalypse. But they're just similarities, i'm not calling it a rip off, i'm excited for this movie and i can't wait for it. I'm just making fun of the similarities between the two. Plus, knowing the story behind the live action of NGE, this is really a cute coincidence. But i'm not really saying anything.
The suits appear to be driven by manual control according to the trailer. For example they're shown moving the suits feet with these massive clamps attatched to them. Same with their arms.Though I'm only guessing.
True on your part. But the brain does play a factor. The mechs need two pilots to control both halfs of the machine. One controls the right, the other the left. They're connected by a link between their minds. del Torro said there would be a scene showing one pilot controlling the mech, and how much a strain it is on that one pilot. Two take the stress off and makes it easier to control.
But I agree with you. There really isn't a REAL similarity here that one couldn't point out to other giant monster vs giant robot movies or animes. I don't see how everyone keeps comparing it to Evangelion and saying its a rip. At least the pilots are trained adults and not some angsty kids with mommy/daddy issues.
The fact they left out the emo/annoying kids is the most obvious sign it's not related at all. Yet, blind fan boys and girls will stay blind and trash it.
Although I did find out at first it was to be a live action Evangelion, but it was abondoned and Del Torro turned it on its head, to turn it into the big budget kaiju flick we've waited on for years.
You know, this movi was actually gonna be that, an american vers of Evangelion, but it was so many troubles with the scrip and the production they just abandon the project and give it to Guillermo Del Toro, so he use some of the original ideas and make it bigger and better than the original vers without touching any of the Evangelion mythology
